Gifting our community with choral entertainment.
The Woodland Chamber Singers is a community-based, non-profit choral group dedicated to promoting choral singing in Yolo County, California.
Founded in 1976 with eight singers, WCS has matured to 35 or so voices plus instrumentalists from Woodland, Davis, Sacramento, and the surrounding areas. Bob Edmondson was the director of the group for 28 years. Tracia Barbieri then served as artistic director for three years. The current artistic director is Lenore Heinson.
WCS presents free performances, aiming to entertain, educate, and move through choral music. The Christmas concerts in the historic Woodland Opera House have become a holiday tradition and traditionally include a carol sing-along. The themed Spring concerts feature an array of sacred and secular pieces.
Singing with WCS
The Woodland Chamber Singers chorus brings together a range of singers, ages and skill levels. Anyone age 14 and up is welcome without audition.
WCS has two performing seasons, the fall season beginning in mid-September and the spring in mid-January. Rehearsals are on Tuesday nights, 7:00 sharp - 9:30 pm at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Drive in Woodland. The major concerts are typically the last Sunday before Christmas and the first Sunday in May.
Singer dues are kept low thanks to generous grants from local service organizations, including Kiwanis of Woodland, Woodland Sunrise Rotary, and the Glide Foundation of Davis.
